About

We raise poultry for meat and eggs in ways that allow the birds to live as full and normal a life as possible while respecting and improving the land and wildlife around us. Our birds have all the clean, green pasture they can eat — plus any tasty bugs they can scratch up (chickens are NOT vegetarians). We feed our birds a blend of locally grown grain and roasted soybeans, custom ground to our order so it’s fresh, with all natural supplements and probiotics. No synthetic pesticides or fertilizers ever. No antibiotics.

Ingredients

Our prepared foods use as many seasonal and locally sourced ingredients (cheese from grass-fed cows and goats, veggies, herbs) as possible.

Practices – Standards for raising or making products

All our birds are raised on clean, green pasture. Portable barns and portable fencing allow us to rotate flocks to fresh pasture daily (meat birds) or weekly (laying hens) March through November. Our birds have 24-hour access to the outdoors and take full advantage of it. We pride ourselves in being predator friendly — electro-mesh fencing and guard dogs protect our birds without harming the local foxes, owls, or hawks. No synthetic pesticides or fertilizers are ever used, and rotating the flocks improves the pasture by bird-powered fertilization. Sheep graze the pasture ahead of the birds and goats help keep brushy areas under control to reduce the amount of fossil fuels we use for mowing. Chickens, turkeys, and ducks are fed local (Oley Valley, PA) synthetic-chemical-free and freshly ground grain and roasted soy plus natural minerals, supplements, and probiotics — plus all the green grass, plants, and bugs (chickens are NOT vegetarians) they can harvest. No antibiotics or medicated feed. Geese and sheep are 100% grass fed, no supplemental feed.
